LONELY KINGS

Lonely Kings Have Been Touring  Extensively And Leaving An Impression On Anyone Who Is Fortunate To Hear This Awesome Rock Band. We Were Able To Catch An Interview With Them Prior To The Release Of Their Latest Album.
Lonely Kings are Jake Desrochers on vocals and guitar, Emile Janicot on bass and vocals, and Jason Wilkinson on drums and vocals.

First of all I want to ask you guys: Where did it begin? When did it begin? And why?

LK began in Arcata, Ca in 1994 with Jake and Jason jamming out at an old practice studio and began to form songs and become an actual band, we were a 2 piece at the time, and then moved to Berkeley CA, and then to Santa Cruz CA where the band really came to fruition and we added a bass player and started to write and record more songs and gained lots of fans and began to play live shows.

How do you write most of your songs?

Most of the songs begin as a nucleus of an idea from one of us and then gets shared with the rest of the band, arranged, changed, and changed again until we think it sounds good enough for us to play live or to record it.

Do you ever record other peoples music just because it speaks to you or for you?

We have done some covers over the years but have never recorded any as we try to keep our original music intact and concentrate on just what WE are doing as a band.

Legends don't die they go down in history. What was it like when you realized you had given birth, so to speak; to something that was legend?

We donlt really consider ourselves or the band a legend, but we have been around so long and not only have we seen many bands come and go but many genres as well, so it makes us feel great to keep playing and recording after all these years, and to keep pushing our limits as musicians.

I know you have had some line-up changes in the band. How important was it to get someone who could integrate into the band, yet bring some sort of 'new blood' vitality?

Life rolls on as it does, and when someone chooses to follow their path and it doesn't involve the band anymore, its OK; the band will still exist just with new members, and everyone who has been in LK are all old friends and have no problems with each other, as they say 'the show must go on'... new players in the band definitely give new aspects to the music and all that the band has become.

You have toured extensively and co-billed with some of the most vibrant, hardcore bands in the music business. Do you see any chance of slowing down?

Yes we have toured the world several times, the USA 17 times, Europe 8 times, and we still play lots of shows but the tours are more crafted and honed down to better shows, better venues, and better bands to play with as we want to maximize our time out on the road and to play at sold out venues each night on tour.

In addition to sheer music, how important is message to anyone who may be carefully listening to your lyrics?

The message from our lyrics are really about our lives and how we live them so lots of people who really listen to the words find themselves identifying with them as they are really about us as people just trying to make it in this crazy world.

Lonely Kings have made a name for themselves for some years now. What can fans expect when they enter a concert hall to see your performance?

Fans can expect %110 from us at EVERY show we play. We never shortcut, we never cancel, and we will be rocking until we physically can't anymore. We love to meet and greet all our fans and have nothing but appreciation for all of them.

You have a new recording coming out in September 2013. How and where can we purchase this new record?

Our new record " American Heartache" comes out on September 3, 2013 on Epochal Artists Records and will be in every Best Buy in the USA or it can be bought on ITunes as well.

Will there be a tour to promote the latest recording?

Yes there will be a small tour to promote the new record with a larger tour in the works for next year.

I certainly hope we can still purchase some of your past records as well. Are there any still available?

Yes our past records are available on ITunes and on Fearless records website and on Rise records website.

I want to thank you for your time. Rock zines and fans throughout the world are indebted to you for sharing this. Thank you, so very much!

Thanks so much and LK hopes to see you out on the road!

This concludes this segment. Look out for this bands new album and tour dates! Lonely Kings are a must see!
